Here is a quick overview of some important (plant/animal) cell organelles:

cell membrane - phospholipid bi-layer, seperates from environment
mitochondria - power plant of the cell
nucleus - houses DNA
ribosomes - synthesize proteins from RNA
golgi apparatus - packaging and organizing center of the cell
smooth endoplasmic reticulum - production of many lipids (fats)
rought endoplasmic reticulum - "rough" because it is studded with ribosomes, protein synthesis (especially membrane bound and trans-membrane proteins)
lysozomes - trash can of the cell, breaks down waste
*Plant cells only!! - Chloroplast - responsible for photosynthesis (production of glucose using water, CO2, and light)
