its called a chain reaction... released neutrons cause fission in other nuclei, etc

it is only partially correct when a neutron hits on a nucleus, it will undergo decay and form 2 smaller atoms and 3 neutrons.in a nuclear reactor ,those 3 neutrons bombards with other near by nuclei,and this reaction continues which is called the chain reaction
