Explain, in complete sentences, how to factor 3x^2 - 3x -60. PLEASE

first off the answer should be: (3x+12)(x-5)

The general idea i use with these types of problems is to find two numbers that multiply that will equal 3x^2 and two numbers that will multiply that will equal -60. Having said that, the numbers used must also add up to -3x. Does that help?
