OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry the question is : What do you mean by the term femtom ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Femto is a metric prefix. Where nano means 10^-9 and pico means 10^-12, femto means 10^-15.

Like 2 femtogram is 2*10^-15 Kg

Femto is a prefix pertaining to the size of teh measurement scale. For example I could express 200 meters as being equal to 0.2 kilometres, 20,000 centimetres, 200,000 millimetres, 200,000,000 micrometers etc. The terms kilo, centi, milli, and micro are all scale examples of size prefixes which tell us wich scale we are using. A femto is equivalent to \(10^{-15}\). In this respect if an object was 0.000000000000003 metres in size (or \(3\times10^{-10}\)m then we could rescale it to the femto scale, and say it is 3 femtometres in size, abbreviated to 3 fm.
