What do you mean by executable? If you mean bootable then the answer is yes. In fact it's the same with USB keys. Try with Unetbootin. You should find many tutorials on the internet.

If you are referring to an auto-run type feature I am afraid you will not have much luck. Even if you had placed an autorun.inf file with a command to open some.exe file you would run into road blocks especially in Windows 7 with it's has enhanced security this possibility is completely removed. So the answer is somewhat of a yes and a no, just depends on which version of Windows you are running.
