A tree in the park makes a shadow on the ground at the same time the basketball post makes a shadow on the ground, as shown. If the height of the basketball post is 10 feet tall, and casts a 25 foot shadow, and the tree casts a 50 feet shadow, use properties of similar triangles to determine the height of the tree.

Use a ratio between the height of the object and the length of the shadow it casts. So the ratio is 10/25. So to find the Length of the shadow just multiply by that ratio. 50*(10/25) = 20
