Perimeter of the equilateral triangle ABC is 72 and the perimeter of the isosceles triangle DBC with the base BC=24 is 50. Which is AB + BD?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since BC=24 is the side of the equilateral triangle ABC, therefore AB=BC=AC=24 The perimeter of isosceles triangle is: DB+DC+BC=50 But DB=DC 2BD+24=50 2BD=26 BD=13 AB+BD=24+13=37
