multiply the terms together and take the "nth" root where n is the number of terms; in this case 2

another way of doing it is to multiply all the "nth" roots of each term together since: sqrt(a*b) = sqrt(a) * sqrt(b) :)
but that way seems a bit convoluted at best
The geometric mean of 3 an 48 is 12 [√(3 x 48) = √144 = 12
