If there are 20 women waiting on line to win basketball tickets, and the probability of a man winning basketball tickets is 5/9 how many people are trying to win basketball tickets?
im confused >.<
\[w=20, \frac{m}{m+w}=\frac{5}{9}\] want to find what m+w is?
we have w we can find m using that second equation then we can do w+m
oh oh oh i get it now.
my problem sense is broken today, this is the second time thats happened :(
poor joe
this is confusing
well we are given the amount of women which is 20 ( i called women,w) so w=20 they said the probability of a man winning is 5/9 what does probability mean?
what numbers(or groups) are we looking at to find probability?
we are assuming that people are only made up of women and men (and no mixed up sexes)
ok
so if i told you that the probability of a man winning is 5/9 i'm talking about the ratio of men to people and people=women+men right?
the 5 presents the men the 9 represents the men+women but we do not know there are 5 men (because the fraction was probabily reduced)
does it kindof make sense now? or do you have any questions?
ohh i get it now
My kitty got on the keyboard and started typing lol
