Add 5 on both sides sqrt(3x +13) = x+5 square both sides 3x +13 = x^2 + 10x + 25 set equal to zero x^2 +7x + 12 = 0 Factor (x+4)(x+3) = 0 x+4 =0 --> x = -4 x+3=0 --> x = -3
