Question

What is the difference between a square matrix and a regular matrix? I keep trying to use our class online matrix calculator to find the determinate and inverse of a matrix and it gives me an error saying that the matrix is not a square matrix. I'm confused. I was able to calculate it by hand...maybe I did it wrong.

when I asked it for the inverse or determinant of a matrix \[\left[\begin{matrix}2 & 4\\ 3& 8\end{matrix}\right]\] is still said that it isn't a square matrix,, that's a 2 x 2???
