Cells are the basic units of life meaning everything is made up of cells. As explained in the 'Cell Theory'. Cells contain genetic data which may be contained within the nucleus or free within the cytoplasm. In animal cells, they are protected by a membrane which is permeable. Inside this animal cells are organelles which help the survival of the cell, as well as us as a whole body. Mitochondria is an organelle which is responsible for the production of energy via cellular respiration. This process is simply defined as glucose being transformed into 36-38 ATP ( aerobic respiration) and around 2 ATP during anaerobic respiration ( respiration lacking oxygen). I could go on and on but i'll give you the pleasure of seeking the interesting information for yourself. I hope this helped. - Shanice.
