I am building a pc with a motherboard that doesnt have an onboard video card, but i do have an expansion slot video card. How would I install the OS without video? The instructions says i need to install the driver cd, but I need the OS to do that. Or will the video card work without installing any drivers?
First install your vid card. Then when you install OS It will find generic drivers for you. Once OS is installed you can install the OEM drivers.
You need a video card in order to see anything on the screen, so install one first. Then install your OS -- will probably have some built in drivers for your video card. Once your OS is installed, you can then install your video card drivers from your drivers CD to take advantage of all of the video cards features.
. . .
Your video card will run in "degraded state" until you get the proper drivers installed. The instructions that came with the card assume you are upgrading and already have an OS installed. Enough said, install your card fire up your engines and get to installing your OS and drivers!
thanks!
