what is the rule for the following number problem? 1,1,2,6,24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

each number is multiplied by one more than the one before it. 1x1 = 1, 1x2 = 2, 2x3 = 6, 6x4 = 24

Thank you so much! Was never good at math and am helping my grandchild! Again, thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there a "rule" that applies to this?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

You would have to define the "rule" recursively perhaps A{n} = A{n-1} * A{n-2}

OpenStudy (amistre64):

..... something like that lol

OpenStudy (amistre64):

A{n} = A{n-1} * (A{n-1}+1) perhaps?

OpenStudy (zarkon):

factorial

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yeah, thats the term :)

OpenStudy (zarkon):

\[a_n=n!\]
