What makes for a good art teacher?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, really want to teach. Like people, and have plenty of patience with them. Actual technical skill is crucial, but is worthless without the desire to teach. A good teacher of any sort will teach you how to learn. Knowing how to learn - to research your area of interest and then come to comprehend what it's about - is really important not matter what you study. A good teacher will be able to help you with this. After that ... it depends on who you want to teach. The art skills you require will be different for pre-school aged kids and for university students, and so on. My favourite art teachers loved innovation, and placed more importance on learning than on "getting it right".

I agree with michaelray. If you love what you do, your students will see that, and they'll learn to love it, too. :D
