For an equation like (v(2x-1)), in order to get the derivative should the chain rule be used or should I multiply out the v and use the power/product rule?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would use the product rule. v times the derivative of 2x-1 plus 2x-1 times the derivative of v.

Is that correct though Wolfram Alpha is using the chain rule and getting a different answer
