Show that the vectors are linearly dependent by finding a vector in the list that is linear combination of predessors. Specify the first vector in the list with this property

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im suppose to be able to do this with just inspection? for v_1(8, -6, 2) v_2=(4, -3, 1) v_3=(0,0,7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

v_1 looks like it's linear combination of v_2 and v_3.. I see how v_2 can become v_1 but I don't know about v_3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats all you really need. just say that: \[v_1 = 2v_2+0v_3\] that shows they are linearly dependent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm what does it mean by specify the first vector in the list? just make it equal to the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess it just means pick the first vector in the list that can be expressed as a linear combination of the other two. not really sure, the question is worded funny >.<

alright thanks!
