Answer?

myininaya (myininaya):

ok so we have 2 positive even consecutive numbers let x be the first so x+2 would be next x+1 is odd because x is even so we need to solve this for x: x^2+(x+2)^2=20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4,2?

OpenStudy (zarkon):

you don't want the -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why not?

myininaya (myininaya):

think positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then what do I do to not have the -4?

OpenStudy (zarkon):

-4,-2 is a legitimate answer if you were not being restricted by the directions of the problem. the problem asks for positive numbers so you have to ignore the -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't have -2, I had -4,2... So.. Do I just change it to 4,2?

myininaya (myininaya):

you have x=2 so x+2=2+2=4

Thanks guys
