\[-1/2x + 6 = 15\] first you take off the 6 -1/2x = 9 Then as an eplanation of why the next step is allowed, try filling in the equation 6/3 = 2 instead, to get the three seperately, you are allowed to make the equation 6/2 = 3, this we do, but with the variables used in this equation. -1/9 = 2x - 1/18 = x
