the are two candle one is thin one is wide. The thin candle is 30 cm long and can light for 3 hour, the wide candle is 20cm and can light for 4 hour after 2 hour the length of the two candle is the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they should be 10 cm each so yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how you do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well take the first candle. its 30 cm and lights for 3 hours. that means it goes down 10 cm per hour right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 2 hours later it will lose 20 cm leaving only 10 left. Or 1 hour for that candle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now the 2nd candle. its 20cm and burns for 4 hours. so that means it burns 5 cm per hour(20/4=5) so 2 hours later it will have burnt 10 cm off leaving only 10 left. since these 2 are equal the answer is yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i got it
