My original question was why is this false? If two numbers divide evenly into a larger number then their product will also divide into that large number. For example, since 4 and 6 divide evenly into 48, their product which is 24 also divides into 48. Is it because 6 is not divisible by 4 but their product is?

4 and 6 divide into 12 but 24 does not evenly divide into 12
