What do you mean by words vim or emacs ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are all editors..like notepad and notepad++ in windows...they have good features to write codes too... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

vi is editor in unix from long time ago; vim is a bit modern flavour of vi; emacs is full of features, and is very powerful if you want to do programming within the editor environment. Personally I use vi almost always on unix (linux) text-oriented editing.

VIM and EMACS are both very good text editors while EMACS is like a version of Lisp on overdrive. You can find a video about how to use basic VIM on my website at http://www.tutorsean.net or by visiting my YouTube channel: tutorsean.
