If the variable is in the denominator, it makes solving for it a bit intimidating.

But, consider what the problem looks like if you multiply both sides by 5k. (5k)/(5k) = 20 * 5k so 1 = 100k And I assume you can solve that problem. So the first step is to turn it into a problem that is simple to solve by taking the variable out of the denominator. But of course that's all assuming the original problem was supposed to be 1/(5k) and not (1/5)k.
