Please help! Graph of (x+1)^2-4(y-1)^2=4?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it appears to be hyperbolic since the subtraction is in the middle

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(x+1)^2 -4(y-1)^2 = 4 \4 \4 \4 (x+1)^2 (y-1)^2 ------- - ------- = 1 4 1 this tells us that the y axis is parallel to the graph; it opens up and down it centered at (-1,1)

So the two shapes are more vertical than horizontal?
