how do u simplify mixed numbers
Find the lowest common denominator :)
Or do you mean mixed fractions?
mixed number like 3 3/8 + 15 15/6
You would times 8 by 3 and add 3 and put that number on the top of 8. Then you would times 6 by 15 and add 15 and put it over 6. Then find a common denominator which would be 24. Then add the numerators! Ta dah!
So your answer would be 501/24. Make sense? Make sure to times the numerator by how many times your times the denominator was times to make it common.
1)First turn all the numbers in the equation into fractions $$A \quad \dfrac{B}{C}=\dfrac{A*C+B}{C}$$ 2)Then find the lowest common denominator(LCD) of all the fractions you need to add or to substract $$\dfrac{A_1}{B_1}+\dfrac{A_2}{B_2}=\dfrac{A_1*\dfrac{LCD(B_1,B_2)}{B_1}+A_2*\dfrac{LCD(B_1,B_2)}{B_2}}{LCD(B_1,B_2)}$$ or simply do this $$ \dfrac{A_1}{B_1}+\dfrac{A_2}{B_2}=\dfrac{A_1*B_2+A_2*B_1}{B_1*B_2}$$ But if you choose the second way after adding you might need to reduce the fraction you got.
they say the answer is 4
i do not get how they get that answer
3 3/8+15 15/6=(24+3)/8+(90+15)/6=27/8+105/6=(81+420)/24=501/24=67/8
