Which of the following are roots of the polynomial below? F(x) = 2x3 - x2 - 9x + 6

OpenStudy (zarkon):

2 is a root

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanxx i found that the root is 2 but i dont know the other two roots

OpenStudy (zarkon):

\[\frac{-3\pm\sqrt{33}}{4}\] are the other 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

once you know one root, you could always use synthetic or long division to reduce the degree of the polynomial and find the other roots.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you factor after that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You factor if you can. by the looks of the roots Zarkon found, im gonna say that after you reduce the degree, you get a quadratic equation that isnt easily factorable, so you should use the quadratic formula instead.

just for clarity.

Nice Joe :)
