Can anyone help me with my ques, please? I'm confused. The local grocery store has videotapes on sale, $3.00 for 2 tapes. You have $20. a) How many tapes can you buy? b) If there is a 7% sales tax on the tapes, how many can you buy? (Explain your answers)

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

If 2 tapers are for $3 so i tape must be for 1.5 so what the maximum number of taper u can buy for $20 If u buy 13 tapes, it will cost $19.5 so thats the maximum number!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you bring the 19.5$ ?? I didn't understand!

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

20 -- 1.5 13.33 so u cant have 0.33 disc. therefore, 13 disks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b) 1.5x.07=.105 thats the tax on each disc now its 1.605 for each now divide that into 20 20/1.605=12.46 which rounds down to 12

Thanks a Lot Guys! :)

you welcome!
