when i boot my computer it is showing an error "invalid partition table", so now i am planning to format the whole HDD as it was empty, and delete all partitions and than re-partition it ? can any tell me how to do that ?
i have windows installation disk , i knw that it can be done by going in recovery console , but how exactly, i dnt knw

Windows will forma and partition the drive during installation. If you don't want Winblows you can always get a linux distro such as http://ubuntu.com

Ubuntu has a really good tool for partitions called gparted. In fact, while you have the install disk in the drive, you might as well press install and install ubuntu.

I agree with Ronnoceel, download the ISO from http://ubuntu.com and just reboot your computer.
