Find the magnitude || sqrt(3)+i||

OpenStudy (amistre64):

in this case; i equates to 1 in cartesian coords

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the magnitude=?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

use the pythag thrm to find it; x=sqrt(3) and y=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i still cant do this

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what step are you having troubles with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea what magnitude is or how to find it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

magnitude is just the length from (0+0i) to (sqrt(3)+1i); complex numbers are just coordinates written in a wierd way at this moment. think of it as finding the distance from (0,0) to (sqrt(3),1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you just tell me the magnitude please

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i dont feel that would be a good move; then you still would not have any clue as to what to do ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theres like 100 questions i need to do i just need the answer thanks

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, I dont really feel like taking my free time to find out 100 answers for you ... if you want to know the answer, the steps are simple enough. And they might even apply to more of the 100 other problems you have to do :)
