OpenStudy (karatechopper):

find the constant of variation, and write and equation for the direct variation. y=15 when x=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=kx 15=k5 k=3 y=3x

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

explain in word?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

direct variation means that as x changes y changesby a specific value. a k value. so thegeneral equation for direct variation between y and x is: y=kx now we just input the values for y & x that u provided so we can get k 15=k5 3=k substitue the value for k and y=3x so y varies directly with x by a value of 3

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

so do we always use this equation? and then what is the constant of variation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k is our constant of variation so 3 and it its varying with x yes
