what data structures is used in Router and Gateway???
I believe that data packets are used to send and receive data... just check the UDP and TCP protocols.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Datagram_Protocol excuse me if I got it wrong
@fahd.hamad thanks for the reply but the thing is, i am in need of the data structures that are used in the routers and other devices,,,
in routers u use routing tables so routing tables are data structures.i guess they are made of arrays or linked lists

Router is just a device like a computer. And it has Operating System called IOS. The data structures used in router is independent of the router, but depends on routing protocol. For example, the data saved for RIP (Routing info. protocol) is different to the data for OSPF. So, the data structure used in two different protocols should be different. And searching for specific answer for vague question sounds intriguing to me.
