find the locus of the middle of the of the chords of the parabola y^2=4ax passing through the vertex .. prove that its a parabola and find its latus rectum.. :P

:D

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

i gotta go now.. buts its easy.. take t1 t2 as parameters.. and solve..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is t1 and t2 lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y^2 = 4ax, focus a t (a,0) -> latus rectum = 4a Have to think about the locus of chords being a parabola but you can think about the particular chords joining (0,0) and the points where y^2=4ax intersects the latus rectum. Also here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parabola#Latus_rectum.2C_semi-latus_rectum.2C_and_polar_coordinates
