What does guan xi mean? What does the concept mean? I kept hearing it when I was in a business school class that went to China.
dictionary - 关系 guān xì = relation / relationship / to concern / to affect / to have to do with Basically in a business sense it means that you have a good relationship with another person and you could influence them or they could do you favors. Kind of like klout but from my understanding it's a much more important concept in China / China business. If you regularly have dinner, entertain another person, know their family etc it would be said that you have guan xi with them. You could call them if you needed help on a problem. A native Chinese speaker might be able to add more details but if just in use in business school, this is generally what it's talking about.
1)事物間的連帶作用。事物间的连带作用。the interrelated stages.e.g.關係企業 Affiliates. 2)影響、牽涉。Effects involved.文明小史 [Wen2 ming2 xiao3 shi3] ˙第二十四回:「這是新章課吏,關係他們前程,務要祕密才好。」It's a phase from "Short history of civilization"- "This is the new chief executive, "affect" their prospect(from knowing who is the new ceo),we should keep it secret." I'm a native chinese speaker. additional.you may say 沒(mean no)關係/关系=no problem Yet,problem is irrelated to关系.
It's kind of like concern or affect. The saying 没关系 méiguānxi means nah, it's fine. 没 Mei = there is no, there's not, not have, there isn't 关系 guānxi = matter, concern See? When someone says sorry to you, you can just use this and say, it's no problem, it's okay, it's cool.
