find the average rate of change for the following functions on the indicated intervals. f(x)=x^3-2x; (0,4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the derivate of the given function and substitute the value from the piont

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry for my english ,the average rate of change is the change in y divided by the change in x ,4^3-8=56, 56/4 =14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am confused but i think -2 is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get -2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the derivative the given function is 3x^2-2,if u substitute the value of x i e 0 then it gives -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope, caution!it is average change ratio and the X is in the interval (0,4)
