If the equation of a parabola is y = 8(x - 3)2 + v, and its vertex is (3, -3), what is the value of v in the equation?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The equation y=a(x-h)^2+k has the vertex (h,k). Since the vertex is (3,-3), this means that h=3 and k=-3. So v=-3
