if you were to use the substitution method to solve the following system, choose the new equation after the expression equivalent to x from the first eqyation is substituted into the second equation. x+y=2 3x+2y=9

OpenStudy (amistre64):

tis isnt math; its just "follow the instructions" ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i put up the instructions because i didn't one time and everyone was asking me what the instructions were

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats fine; but how do you spose we could work thru this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have absolutely no idea i don't get math at all

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how would you solve for x in the first equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea honestly

OpenStudy (amistre64):

think of an equation as a balanced scale with a left and right side that need to stay in balance

OpenStudy (amistre64):

x+y=2 ; whatever we do to one side we HAVE to do to the other to keep things equal right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold up a sec i gotta go help my friend

OpenStudy (amistre64):

x+y=2 if we want to solve this equation for "x" that means we want to get "x" all by itself, but notice that it has a "y" hanging around ...
