I need help with rational equations
me too:-)
so you don't know how to do them,?
Dunno, post one, let me see...
1/x+1 - 2/x-1 = 3
Yup, I can do that, what's the problem u r having?
i don't know how to do it
Do u know lcd?
lowest common denominator
That a no?
last chance, speak or forever...
1/x+1 - 2/x-1 = 3 | * x <=> 1 + x - 2 - x = 3x <=> x-x -3x = 1 <=> 3x=-1 <=> x=-1/3
thank you newm1, you are the best
Oh, so now u know how to do them, good.
thanks to newm1, yes
Better give newm1 a medal, then....
U click the button "Good answer" next to his reply...
No?, I will give him one on your behalf...
Did you mean \[\frac{1}{x+1}-\frac{2}{x-1}= 3\]
Gave the solution to the given equation. Good point phi. Its hard when someone don´t use brackets.
Newm1, I know you did it right, but it sure looks strange to post an equation with a +1 and a -1 which obviously cancel. So meg.. did you leave out the parenthesis Did you mean 1/(x+1) - 2/(x-1) =3
Answer's still right....
True, but there is another answer x=0. And the real point is to understand how to solve these. Are you going to take her test?
She claimed she now understood them...
The fact she clearly doesn't is entirely besides the point.
