my biology teacher taught me that they produce ATP ... but i read in a MCQ question somewhere that they are involved in energy transfer and not production ...

Mitochondria are considered the powerhouse of the cell. They are the place where energy and nutrients are converted into ATP. This is not exactly a technical definition

It is the power house of the cell.They have their own dna and chromosones.They produse ATP(andiose trisophate).they give the wole energy to the cell.
