stem cells can proliferate ?!! so if i inject one then can i like regenerte an external organ ?
in theory yes, in practice no...
why ?
Stem cells can multiply (theoretically) forever, and pluripotent stem cells can become any cell in the body. However, they require specific conditions such as the correct cells surrounding them, the right growth factors at the correct concentrations, and numerous other signals for them to differentiate into the correct cells. Also, your organs form as your body develops. Once your body has finished developing, it would be difficult to grow an entire new organ as your body chemistry changes once you finish growing (not to mention all the changes while it is growing). This is a simplistic answer to a very, very complicated question. But they are getting closer to growing entire organs with stem cells and then they would be able to transplant them into a person. I would say 20 years and they can clone organs, no problem (provided that they don't cut all funding to research, damn budget crisis).
cool thanks :)
