How do you find the area of a shaded region for a parabola?

OpenStudy (angela210793):

defined integrals

more elaborate please

It also depends on the parabola. Using an integral that starts at the left intercept and ends at the right intercept (assuming the graph is around the x-axis) will usually suffice. Otherwise, you can estimate it using Riemann sums.

However, integrals are the only way to get an exact answer.
