Find the value of X and Y if: 2/(x-1) + 5/(y-2) = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=5, y=12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just went with 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 and solved the two portions for x and y separately for 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = -7, y = 6 x = -2, y = 5 x = 2, y = -3 x = 4, y = 17 x = 5, y = 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the lowest common denominator would be? .0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for x=5 and y=12 the LCD of the two fractions 2/4 and 5/10 is 20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but if you simplify first the LCD of 1/2 and 1/2 is 2
