how do you find the inverse of a function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Reflect it across the line y=x. A function only has an inverse if it is a one-to-one function or there is a domain restriction.

You take the x value and the y values, swap them, and then change it to where it's now y = blah blah. For example, 3x + 7 = y 1. swap out letters: 3y + 7 = x 2. 3y = x - 7 3. y = (x-7)/3
