You make the three cuts such that there is a triangle in the middle.  Thats how im getting 7.

8 piece. First two cuts make 4, and if cut thru from the side, should make 8.

That is the other correct answer! There will be some disappointed people without any sause, or toppings; but they don't matter when puzzles are involved.
