just to help you out in the long run, the way i remember what a coordinating conjunction is is by sayin the sentence in my head and if it pauses then you have one. example: i was gone go to the store, but i changed my mind. idk i jus thought that would help.

I typically remember coordinating conjunctions with the following acronym: FANBOYS.
F= for
A= and
N= nor
B= but
O=or
Y= yet
S= so
To me, its best just to memorize the seven. I'm not the best at grammar, but this is a good reference.
