A chloroplasts function is to obtain energy from the sun through photosythesis. The chlorophyll within the organelle is what gives the appearance of the green color. A chromoplast is responsible for pigment synthesis and storage. It contains pigments other that cholophyll, giving it a yellow or orange color. A leucoplast is typically colorless but is capable of developing into a chloroplast. They store food material.
