Identify the shape and key features of (x-5)^2+(x+1)^2=16 a.) hyperbola with center at (5,1) b.) Parabola with vertex at (-5,1) c.) Circle with center at (5,-1) and radius of 4 d.) None of the answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation of a circle is given by: (x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that what you have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Unfortunately I have (x-5)^2+("X"+1)^2 .... so I don't think that would work for a circle :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay then, we have eliminated that choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you did'nt write the in your original post?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write the... what in the original post? o_O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why, does that x have those quotation marks around it??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh sorry to emphasis is being an x as opposed to y, it has nothing to do with the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, then the answer is none of the above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I was leaning toward... well thank you very much good sir!
