What is the slope of a line that is perpendicular to 3y+x=21 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first solve for y

y= 21-x/3 ?

First start with getting y on one side. You'll do this by subtracting the x and dividing the constant in front of the y. next, you'll realize that there is a 1/3 in front of x. that is the parallel slope of another line. The perpendicular slop is simply the reciprocal of that, meaning you flip the 1/3. A perpendicular line will have the slope equal 3.

Do i negate it too?
