Factor completely.......... -18a^2 + 17a + 15

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

well look for factors of (-18*15) that add up to 17

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

i dont think this does factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont you have to do something with the first and last numbers to equal the middle one?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

nevermind -18*15 = -270 27*-10 = -270 AND 27 -10 = 17

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how would you then rewrite that?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

-18a^2 +27a -10a +15 factor by grouping -9a(2a+3) -5(2a +3)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

can you take it from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
