a car consumes 1litre of petrol for every 15km travelled and the price of petrol is per litre.calculate the total petrol cost to travel 285km

What is the price? You kinda missed out on that info.

I used ratio to solve this one. Let x= the number of liters used to travel 285 km. 1 liter: 15 kms= x liters: 285 km Then multiply the means ( 15 and x) and the extremes (1 and 285) 15x=285 Divide both sides by 15 to get x. x= 19. You need 19 liters for 285 kms. Now you just have to multiply 19 to the price per liter to get the total cost of petrol.
