If a tree falls and nobody hears it, does it make a noise?
I asked wiki but it started talking about buddhist zen stuff.
Please do not include buddhist zen stuff in ur answer
i think yes
it must
the argument against it is that sound is only sound when it vibrates against those little hairs in ur ears, right? or something...
people must be deaf :D
yes, it sounds like a pine koan
sorry.
then again, there aren't exactely forests for trees to fall in these days...
it makes a sound
poor little forrests TT ^TT
I'm not insulted because Idk what a pine koan is :)
do you know what a koan is?
<shakes head>
"If a tree falls and nobody hears it, does it make a noise?" is a koan
random philisophical riddle?
I did get the "pine cone" thing... :)
buddhist specifically,. not necessarily riddles though.
The sound of one hand clapping...
lol! But I said no buddhist zen stuff in ur answer...
Everybody was talking about koans...
Does "no-one" include wildlife?
yeah... no squirrels to witness the cataclysmic event...
OK, my 2 cents... Seems to me that the only difference between the 2 scenarios is presence or not of persons, nothing else has changed. Therefore what was "heard" when people were present is still there whether or not people are present. How people hear something is irrelevant to the existence question.
